The Silver Aqua Dichro Creeping Starfish is created by adding a thin layer of Dichroic Glass to the bottom of the starfish, which is metallic and glitter-like. The Dichro gives the appearance of shimmering sand.
When the glass is hot, John lets the molten glass fall over the edge of a metal table, capturing the moment when the starfish is creeping away, just like it clings to rocks in the ocean.
Choose between Flat and Creeping Styles.
Images are of Creeping. Flat starfish will rest on a flat surface with no legs bent over the side. Creeping starfish have two bent legs, capturing the moment when the starfish is creeping away, just like it clings to rocks in the ocean.
It is about 5" in diameter.
Each starfish is a unique work of art and hand signed by John Gibbons.

This Small Anemone Vase is inspired by the patterns and movements of the ocean. It is an original work of art. The windows are optical and change with addition of light. Check out the video!
It measures about 6 1/2" height and 3 1/2" in diameter.
The pattern in this blown glass vase is achieved by cutting small glass rods and tiles, arranging them in a pattern, and then fusing them together in a 2100 degree kiln. A blow pipe is then rolled along the edge of the glass to form a cylinder. The bottom of the cylinder is closed, which creates a bubble, allowing the glass to then be blown and shaped into the vase. Gibbons uses the optical properties of glass to create a magnifying-glass effect in which the pattern undulates when viewed.
This Vase is made to order, please allow 1 to 2 weeks to be recreated.

Large starfish Cluster in the Original colors measuring 14 inches tall and 10 wide wide.
This one of kind hand sculpted glass starfish was created by John Gibbons of Eureka, California. It measures about 7.5" in diameter.
I try to capture the essence of the tide pool in this optical and organic colored glass. The starfish is created with an organic color pattern on the bottom that gets magnified from the thick optical layer of clear glass on the top, the starfish almost looks wet. The pattern on this particular star is called Murrini (or Murrine) and is an Italian glass technique where I take a glass cane (long rod of glass) and cut it in cross-sections to reveal a pattern that mimics the natural texture of the starfish in the wild. People have also said that it looks like barnacles on the starfish.

The Tide Pool Amber Barnacle Starfish is created by melting optical tubes of color into the molten glass. Then layers of color are added to the bottom and a thick layer of clear glass is added to the top, making the starfish optical and appear almost wet.
In the glass making process, the optical tubes of color begin as a mass of molten glass on the end of a metal rod. Unique color patterns are added to the glass, then it is stretched into pencil thick cane. After cooling for a day, the cane is cut to reveal cross sections about a quarter inch long. Finally, the cane is arranged on a hot plate to be melted into the starfish.
When the glass is hot, John lets the molten glass fall over the edge of a metal table, capturing the moment when the starfish is creeping away, just like it clings to rocks in the ocean.
It is about 5" in diameter.
