This one of kind vase was hand blown by glass artist John Gibbons of Eureka Ca. This piece stands about 7 inches and 7 inches wide. This piece is made to order.

This is one of my latest vases in my Anemone Series. I call this piece “Low Tide Green Ocean”. I am inspired by the patterns and movements of the ocean. This vase is made up of over 100 small colorful pieces that I make called murrine. Murrine are created by layering colored glass from the center outward. This layering of colors created a molten piece of glass about the size of a soup can that I stretch across the studio to create a 1/2 to 3/4 inch rod. We then put the rods in the annealing oven to cool over night. The next day we slice the rods onto 1/4 inch wafers that get laid out on a ceramic kiln shelf into a mosaic like arrangement. The wafers are heated and fused together into a rectangular piece of glass. A blowpipe is then rolled along the edge and the flat sheet of glass turns into a cylinder. The bottom gets closed off and now there is a bubble of glass on the end of my blow pipe.

Three layers of molten clear and gathered onto the bubble and it is blown and shaped with the help of my assistant into the vase pictured.

The mold creates a diamond pattern on the vase and separates the colors, revealing the layers beneath. The clear lenses in the center of the diamond draw you into the depths of the vase. I call this color combination tide pool green. This is a one of a kind piece.

This beautiful vase is inspired by the washed up glass that shows up on the shoreline of Northern California. Sea Glass mixes in the sand after being tumbled by the ocean over time, giving the material a smooth texture that is treasured by beach goers.
Using classic glass making methods, murrini is pulled, cut and formed into a gorgeous and classic vase. Measuring about 8 inches in height and 4 inches wide.

This glass heart is about 3.5 inches long by 3 inches wide. I made it with a thick layer of clear glass on top of a mixture of gold and white. This is a great gift to give for no particular reason at all.

This Coral Reef glass marble is inspired by tube sponges in the coral reef. The colors that form the tubes in the marble are created by layering rods of glass and then stretching the rods into another rod that is then cut into short sections. After the tube sponges are formed, I put the coral reef together and finish off the marble in a graphite mold to give it a perfect spherical shape.

Approximately 2 inches in diameter.

This is a unique gift or for any person who loves a classic glass form. A blue hue of glass is stretched and formed into a flower that represents “ Jack in the pulpit”. A perfect addition to any home.

The “Jade Vortex” is created by first rolling up jade green rods of glass over a bubble and then twisting the bubble to make a spiral of green and clear in between. Then, by poking a hole in the side of the bubble and placing a new blow pipe in the hole, the bubble is turned so that the spiral is on the side of the glass and not the bottom. The bubble is blown out and flattened with large thick cork paddles. Once the bubble has cooled the bottom is flattened, another metal rod with a little bit of glass on the end is attached to the bottom of the bubble, and the glass is broken off the blow pipe. The neck is stretched out by heating it in a 2000 degree oven. When the vase is finished, it is put into an oven to cool slowly overnight to room temperature.

The Jade Vase is made from blown glass with an elegant jade green color, topped with clear glass wrapped in 24 karat gold foil. This vase was inspired from a jade necklace worn by John’s Aunt, which she got in China.

This glass jellyfish pendant was hand made by John Gibbons in Eureka, CA. The pendant measures about 1.75 inches long and comes with a sturdy adjustable cord. It was made on a torch using borosilicate glass.

The Ka-Pow! Starfish is created with an aqua white color pattern on the bottom that gets magnified from the thick optical layer of clear glass on the top.

Choose between Flat and Creeping Styles.

Images are of Creeping. Flat starfish will rest on a flat surface with no legs bent over the side. Creeping starfish have two bent legs, capturing the moment when the starfish is creeping away, just like it clings to rocks in the ocean.

This beautiful marble is about 2.5 inches in size and captures a swirl of kiwi green and white color spiraling in the moment. Bright shimmering green and white glass are twisted to create a spiral form frozen in time. A graphite mold shapes the glass into a perfect sphere.

The Amethyst White Starfish is inspired by a starfish that John saw while diving in La Jolla Cove, CA. This Purple Ochre Sea Star is created with an organic color pattern on the bottom that gets magnified from the thick optical layer of clear glass on the top.

The Anemone Windows Vase by John Gibbons is inspired by the patterns and movements of the ocean. It is an original work of art. The windows are optical and change with addition of light. 

It measures about 13.5" height and 8" in diameter.

The pattern in this blown glass vase is achieved by cutting small glass rods and tiles, arranging them in a pattern, and then fusing them together in a 2100 degree kiln. A blow pipe is then rolled along the edge of the glass to form a cylinder. The bottom of the cylinder is closed, which creates a bubble, allowing the glass to then be blown and shaped into the vase. Gibbons uses the optical properties of glass to create a magnifying-glass effect in which the pattern undulates when viewed.

Hand blown Rainbow Spiral glass marble. This medium-sized marble is made by using long rods of different colored glass, which are then rolled up onto a solid mass of molten clear glass. Next, it is twisted into a spiral pattern and shaped with a mold into a marble.
