This Coral Reef glass marble is inspired by tube sponges in the coral reef. The colors that form the tubes in the marble are created by layering rods of glass and then stretching the rods into another rod that is then cut into short sections. After the tube sponges are formed, I put the coral reef together and finish off the marble in a graphite mold to give it a perfect spherical shape.

Approximately 2 inches in diameter.

Each marble is hand sculpted and may vary slightly from photographs.

Hand sculpted glass starfish. It measures about 7" width.

This Grow and Stretch starfish is created with an unique color pattern on the bottom called murrini (or Murrine). It is an Italian glass technique where I take a glass cane (long rod of glass) and cut it in cross-sections to reveal a pattern that mimics the natural texture of the starfish in the wild. People have also said that it looks like barnacles on the starfish.

This beautiful marble is about 2.5 inches in size and captures a swirl of kelp that is spiraling in the moment as it grows through the ocean water. Dark blue and soft green glass are twisted to create a spiral form frozen in time. A graphite mold shapes the glass into a perfect sphere.

Hand blown glass vase. This vase measures about 8.5 inches tall x 3.5 inches wide.

This vase is made by layering, certain colors on top of each other and then putting the vase into a mold. The mold creates a diamond pattern on the vase and separates the colors, revealing the layers beneath. The clear lenses in the center of the diamond draw you into the depths of the vase. I call this color combination tide pool green. This is a one of a kind piece.

This is a unique gift or for any person who loves a classic glass form. A blue hue of glass is stretched and formed into a flower that represents “ Jack in the pulpit”. A perfect addition to any home.

The “Jade Knight pumpkin” is known for its square-shape, flat bottom , and being moderately ribbed with a unique dark gray-green color. “Jade Knight” pumpkins have trailing vines and are excellent yielders, a true inspiration when creating in the glass studio . This forever pumpkin is measuring about 4 inches wide and 5 inches tall and topped with a perfect glass stem. Using classic glass blowing techniques, this beautiful gourd will be a focal piece in your home.

The “Jade Vortex” is created by first rolling up jade green rods of glass over a bubble and then twisting the bubble to make a spiral of green and clear in between. Then, by poking a hole in the side of the bubble and placing a new blow pipe in the hole, the bubble is turned so that the spiral is on the side of the glass and not the bottom. The bubble is blown out and flattened with large thick cork paddles. Once the bubble has cooled the bottom is flattened, another metal rod with a little bit of glass on the end is attached to the bottom of the bubble, and the glass is broken off the blow pipe. The neck is stretched out by heating it in a 2000 degree oven. When the vase is finished, it is put into an oven to cool slowly overnight to room temperature.

The Jade Vase is made from blown glass with an elegant jade green color, topped with clear glass wrapped in 24 karat gold foil. This vase was inspired from a jade necklace worn by John’s Aunt, which she got in China.

This glass jellyfish pendant was hand made by John Gibbons in Eureka, CA. The pendant measures about 1.75 inches long and comes with a sturdy adjustable cord. It was made on a torch using borosilicate glass.

This one of kind vase was hand blown by glass artist John Gibbons of Eureka Ca. This piece stands about 5.5 inches tall and 4 inches wide. This piece is what will be shipped.

This is one of my latest vases in my Anemone Series. I call this piece “Jellyfish Window”. I am inspired by the patterns and movements of the ocean. This vase is made up of over 50 small colorful pieces that I make called murrine. Murrine are created by layering colored glass from the center outward. This layering of colors created a molten piece of glass about the size of a soup can that I stretch across the studio to create a 1/2 to 3/4 inch rod. We then put the rods in the annealing oven to cool over night. The next day we slice the rods onto 1/4 inch wafers that get laid out on a ceramic kiln shelf into a mosaic like arrangement. The wafers are heated and fused together into a rectangular piece of glass. A blowpipe is then rolled along the edge and the flat sheet of glass turns into a cylinder. The bottom gets closed off and now there is a bubble of glass on the end of my blow pipe.

Three layers of molten clear and gathered onto the bubble and it is blown and shaped with the help of my assistant into the vase pictured.

I sculpted this coy fish from a blown bubble and then added molten bits of glass to create the fins and tale.  I tried to capture the movement and flowing nature of the fish. It measures about 11.5 inches long by 6.5 inches tall and 6 inches wide.

The Anemone Windows Vase by John Gibbons is inspired by the patterns and movements of the ocean. It is an original work of art. The windows are optical and change with addition of light. 

It measures about 12” height and 8" in diameter.

The pattern in this blown glass vase is achieved by cutting small glass rods and tiles, arranging them in a pattern, and then fusing them together in a 2100 degree kiln. A blow pipe is then rolled along the edge of the glass to form a cylinder. The bottom of the cylinder is closed, which creates a bubble, allowing the glass to then be blown and shaped into the vase. Gibbons uses the optical properties of glass to create a magnifying-glass effect in which the pattern undulates when viewed.

Hand blown Rainbow Spiral glass marble. This medium-sized marble is made by using long rods of different colored glass, which are then rolled up onto a solid mass of molten clear glass. Next, it is twisted into a spiral pattern and shaped with a mold into a marble.

Approximately 1.5 to 1.75  inches in diameter.

Each marble is hand sculpted and will differ slightly from photograph.

A glass sunflower inspired by “Little Becka”, a dwarf sunflower with bi-color petals that are bright red, pink, and yellow. “ Little Becka” has a halo effect on their petals, a true muse when creating in glass studio. Measuring about 7 inches wide and 15 inches long, this forever sunflower will bring joy all year long to your home and garden.

This is a lucky marble that is about 2 inches in size and a wonderful charm. I start by making a four leaf clover with green and white glass into murrine. I use blue and white glass as the base, with clear glass surrounding the clover and leafs. I shape the sphere with a graphite mold into a perfect form.

It gets hot in glass studio, and sometimes our marbles melt. This is an adorable window into a swirling color display, about an inch in diameter. I flatten a marble while it was still hot, creating a marble that will never roll away.
